I went to a wedding at the garden years ago, but I hadn’t been there in daylight. For those of you who need a respite from NYC, this is the place to go and you don’t need to be a flower-lover to enjoy the gardens.
Got into the Museum with our Pass…so easy! Went through the new Judy Chicago Exhibit, it is really beautiful and stopped by the Egyptian collection.

We walked through Prospect Park and had lunch on the lake. Our lunch was included with the pass and we picked it up at the Audubon center in the middle of the park. We made a little picnic for ourselves with sandwiches, chips etc…I love a free lunch:) Soooo romantic.
Who knew there was a zoo in Brooklyn? I certainly didn’t. It is much smaller and more manageable than the Bronx Zoo and quieter than the Central Park Zoo. We saw a ton of animals; the baboons were so cute and caught the 4 pm sea lion feeding.
We were starving, and we have always wanted to go to Juniors so we hopped on the Q train to DeKalb and had the best corned beef sanwich ever. The sandwiches are HUGE so we shared one and each had a piece of cheescake, because, we hate to divy up our sweets. One slice of the cheesecake was free with the pass (plain for my fiance) and I had the brownie marble swirl…so good.
We hopped on the Q train out to Coney Island. We had a blast at the aquarium and saw the most enormous walrus. It was insane. I am obsessed with sea otters and saw the cutest sea otters. We just loved the aquarium.

From afar the Cyclone Roller Coaster does not look that scary, it actually looks kind of dinky, like a mini-amusement park ride. Although this roller coaster is wooden and over 80 years old, we thought it was going to be a walk in the park. This is the SCARIEST roller coaster I have ever been on. I had my eyes closed the entire ride. At the end of the ride, I went back on for a $4 re-riding fee and kept my eyes open this time. FYI-don’t eat anything before you go on the ride. :)

We stopped at Nathan’s Famous for hot dogs. Nathan’s in Coney Island is the birthplace for Nathan’s hot dogs. I actually don’t eat meat but my fiance had a chilli dog that he said was incredible and I had the best cheese fries. For those who have never been to Nathan’s they serve their cheese fries with the cutest little fries fork. Love it!
I ride the subway every day but I had never been to the transit museum. The museum is housed in a 1936 IND subway station. It is free with our pass, very cool. I got a great necklace of an old subway token.

After our walk we needed something sweet so we stopped into the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for some homemade ice cream. I had the best strawberry ice cream ever. We took out ice cream and left Brooklyn via a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.
The total price (per person) of your trip is an approximate value. Our members enter prices in ranges (ie. 10 - 20 USD per entree at a restaurant). Then, depending on the travel style you have selected for yourself, we estimate how much we think you would spend (ie. If your travel style is "inexpensive," you would probably end up spending $10 at the mentioned restaurant). It's all hokey science, but if you are like us and travel on a budget, knowing approximately how much you will spend on a trip is of utmost importance.
